As the name suggests, Three Into One distills the best of Ultravox’ first three albums into a single elpee or cassette. It’s a great entrée into John Foxx’ tenure with the band, although a little tricky to track down. I originally owned it on vinyl, lost that copy, and recently purchased a cassette version that featured a blank side of chrome tape on side two (billed as the short-lived and presumably unsuccessful “One Plus One” process). The pitfall of such a process should be obvious, as someone apparently recorded over the side of music that originally contained the Ultravox songs. So I can’t tell you how great this compilation sounds today, merely recall from memory that I always liked it (especially the second side). Oh well, caveat emptor.
