A wizard by any other name, “Wise Man” was the first Heep single to feature John Lawton on vocals. It’s not a bad track, especially if you’re in a nostalgic mood, but Lawton’s delivery suggests Tom Jones grinding his way through Barclay James Harvest’s back catalog. “Crime of Passion” is a nonalbum track later added to the Firefly remasters beginning in the late ‘90s; as Heep tracks go this has a dynamic swagger, for my money the better of the two songs on here.
