O ne of the greatest movie themes of all time. It’s actually a bit of clever self-borrowing, this melody having first appeared in the 3rd movement of “Heaven And Hell,” which went on to serve as the theme for the PBS series, Cosmos. At least that’s what I wrote in my review of Heaven And Hell, and I’m too lazy to double-check. It is the only Vangelis single to chart in the US Top 40, which I guess would make him a one-hit wonder (in the eyes of the doinks at VH1 anyway).
