Weezer
Named for (arguably) the most losery of the Little Rascals with a logo fashioned after Van Halen, Weezer were dorks who rocked. Videos for "Undone - The Sweater Song" and (especially) "Buddy Holly" cemented their status as loveable underdogs while songs like "Surf Wax America" and "Say It Ain't So" gave them pop-metal credibility. Their followup, Pinkerton, apparently threw people for a loop and so Weezer laid low for a little while. They reappeared in 2001 (minus bassist Matt Sharp) with The Green Album, and Weezer resumed their rightful place at the top of the power-pop pyramid.
