K M 5.01 WIZARDS AND DOGS -- It’s pure magic when that electric kicks in on the left channel, and what follows is an introduction to the most compelling character in all of Whoville, Tommy. Issued before the double-album opus, “Pinball Wizard” set the stage for the greatest rock opera of all time (though it arguably inspired an even better one in Jesus Christ Superstar a few years later). The B side is credited to mad Moon and features the usual dogpile on the drumkit, howls and a loose jam from the rest of the band; filler in every sense of the word.
