O ne whale worth hunting for the nonalbum B side “Abalene." (I've seen it spelled different ways, but I'm going off the copy I own.) Written by Steve Howe, “Abalene” would have felt at home on Beginnings, sort of like a relaxed cousin to “Australia.” Of course, they’ve probably slipped this onto the expanded remaster of Tormato by now, so problem solved. The single version of “Don’t Kill The Whale” cuts off about a half minute of the ending from the elpee version but is otherwise identical. In the US, the soaring “Release, Release” was selected as the B side.
