Andy Summers
After the arrested development of The Police, Andy Summers entered the field of new age/ambient/avant garde guitarists by pairing with a master in the genre, Robert Fripp. Since then, Summers has worked with keyboardist David Hentschel on a number of (mostly) instrumental albums that follow in the same general vein. But where Fripp has hermetically sealed himself off from most external influences, Summers shoots with a wider lens, admitting in light from various sources (including world music). Yes, fans of The Police will find traces of his edgy and angular guitar work in his solo oeuvre, but Summers is best suited to fans of new age/ambient music. It's worth noting that the guitarist is also a shutter bug of some renown, and his music seems to share the same appreciation for still life settings.
