Arto Lindsay
Similar in effect and appearance to David Byrne, an underrated guitarist drawn to unusual rhythms, avant garde rock, the unleashed ego and Latin American music. Unlike Byrne, however, Arto Lindsay had real Latin American roots, having been raised in Brazil by missionary parents. After stints with DNA and Lounge Lizards, Lindsay and keyboardist Peter Scherer formed Ambitious Lovers, who got almost halfway through the seven deadly sins (Envy, Greed, Lust). Lindsay's solo music is characterized by an adventurous mix of avant-garde rock and a clear affection for Brazilian music.
