Blue Öyster Cult
Few bands remain as much a mystery as BOC. Were they heavy metal prophets of the Apocalypse? A regular rock band bloated by their own mythology? Students of music and mystical arcana who twisted the two into an unholy alliance? When I'm listening to BOC at a given moment, I might say "yes" to all three. What I do know is that BOC remains an acquired taste, like Hawkwind. Their most popular songs and albums are only the tip of the iceberg, so an interest in "Don't Fear The Reaper" and "Godzilla" won't sustain you for long in the brotherhood of the Cult. If you have a penchant for fantasy and science fiction, however, BOC should enlist your interest.
