Fareed Haque
This is more "praga rock" than prog proper, as Fareed Haque's Middle Eastern roots poke through his music when he blends contemporary fusion jazz with sitar, tabla and violin. Which isn't all the time, as Haque stands just fine on Western footing as a classical, fusion and traditional jazz guitarist. If the Eastern/Western fusion of Oregon and Shakti excites you, then Flat Planet is ripe for discovery. Haque is also a founder of Garaj Mahal, a fusion jam band featuring a traditional lineup of guitar, keys, bass & drums.
