GEOFF DOWNES Discography
Keyboardist Geoff Downes was one half of the popular if short-lived Buggles, whose "Video Killed The Radio Star" was a minor new wave hit. Downes and fellow Buggle Trevor Horn then took a surprising detour by joining the progressive rock band Yes. When that band disbanded after one album (Drama), Downes and Yes guitarist Steve Howe formed a new supergroup, Asia, with prog rock veterans John Wetton and Carl Palmer. The band's debut was a huge success, their second and third albums less so, and Asia too soon disbanded. Downes next formed The New Dance Orchestra as a vehicle for his solo music. In 1990, Asia resurfaced with Downes as the de facto leader, and the re-vamped lineup released the first of several new works, Aqua. Downes continues to release occasional discs with and without the New Dance Orchestra, most recently The World Service in the summer of 2000.
