Gong
In case you don't remember... Gong were the original pot-head pixies, living in France and spinning psychedelic yarns about flying teapots and space witches under assumed identities like Dingo, Bloomdido, Yoni and Lawrence the Alien. The alternate reality they wove wasn't for every taste, but if you found a hippy-trippy Hawkwind appealing, Gong was your top banana. As most of the members left the mothership, Gong eventually fell into the hands of percussionist Pierre Moerlen, joining Brand X and Bruford in search of fusion's gray bland beyond. Fans of the original Flying Teapot series would do better to follow the adventures of Daevid Allen, Steve Hillage and the various Gong offshoots (Mothergong, etc.).
