O ne of Joan’s catchier character studies, “Simon” fits into the second tier of hits from her career. It’s a play on the “Simon Says” game, where a shy person is told how to behave and becomes someone else. The B side is a holdover from the How Cruel EP, the reggae number “He Wants Her,” although “Rosie” would have made the better bee.
