Soon after the pub-rock explosion of the mid '70s, England provided us with a new treat: the ska revival. At the forefront of the movement were Two-Tone label artists Madness, The Specials and The Selecter (in that order). Madness soon merged into music hall pop, capably (over)produced by Clive Langer and Alan Winstanley. By the early '80s, the band had lost its US distribution contract, only to regain it based on the hit single/video for "Our House." Keep Moving was the last elpee with the original septet, and the remaining members were calling themselves The Madness before they disbanded for good. While very popular in their native England, Madness were more of a "phenomenon" in the US, regarded as a novelty act here as much as clever purveyors of English pop music.
