T he second US single from The Abominable Showman. Or is it? Turns out that Columbia released a DJ promo single of “Cool Reaction” with the same ID number (38-03837). Maybe they feared the song might live down to its title, but the official version of 38-03837 is “Wish You Were Here” b/w “How Do You Talk To An Angel.” And that’s about as interesting as things get, since both sides are identical to the elpee versions. I was never wild about “Wish You Were Here;” it sounds like a Paul Carrack song and Lowe probably would have given it to him if Carrack had a place to put it. The B side is a likeable enough stroll down tin pan alley.
