Y ou’re not dreaming, Moe and Larry really are this funky. Don and David Was nail the Chic sound, then turn it into a political statement by working in a Ronald Reagan clip and remixing the hell of it. It’s kitchen-sink Chic, funny and scary at the same time, which would pretty much describe most Was (Not Was) tracks. The “Souped-Up Version” on the flip is a deeper remix of the original that segues into a freaky dub version of “Out Come The Freaks.” Because it was released as a 12-inch, “Tell Me That I’m Dreaming” only made the Hot Club Dance Play chart (i.e., DJs were buying it and playing it in clubs). Had it been released as a 7-inch single, it would have handily made Billboard’s Top 100.
